Playa del Carmen Fishing

Playa del Carmen, located on the Mexican Caribbean Coast, is one of the most popular tourist destinations with millions of visitors every year. Playa del Carmen is located just in front of Cozumel Island and thirty minutes away by land from Cancun. Playa del Carmen is loved by tourists from all around the world due to the magical Mayan history and modern day conveniences available. There are so many attractions and activities for visitors; you might run out of time to do them all! There are amazing ancient Mayan ruins close by that are in every way worth a trip. Also, there are some very unique adventure and nature parks to choose from. Most people come to enjoy the beach, but there are also many water activities like sailing, kite surfing, jet skiing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and of course, fishing! People visiting Playa del Carmel never leave disappointed, especially after a day of fishing. Although Playa del Carmen has no marina itself, it sits between the towns of Puerto Morelos and Puerto Adventuras that have the best fishing charters in the area. There are also many boats that leave directly from Playa del Carmen for a more convenient trip (small open fishing boats). The turquoise colored water, the second biggest coral reef in the world, beautiful beaches and the swaying palm trees add to the beauty of Playa Del Carmen fishing makes “Playa” a great place to visit. Thanks to the year round warm weather, fish can be caught anytime in the year. The giant attractive Marlin and Sailfish migrate using the Cozumel channel in summer and spring. Anglers interested in catching giant fish like these are in for a thrilling experience! The best season for fishing is when sailfish and marlin are seen in abundance from March to July. Once the Sailfish and Marlin become less likely to be caught because of the cold-water currents, you can always count on Jigging for Amberjack or trolling for Wahoo, King Mackerel and the always-present Barracuda. These fish are delicious to eat and are very fun to catch as well! Imagine relaxing on the beach while eating your fresh caught fish with your family and friends. There are so many options for Playa Del Carmen fishing; it surely will be a trip to remember!
